Headhunter…. a word that will send chills up most peoples spine. A word that conjures up images of collector like phone calls coming in just as soon as your resume hits the new job board. But why all of this negative attention around a word that means change for someones career.

Here at Southwest Search we are not just “headhunters”, in fact I would say we are more of opportunity seekers. We look for individuals who either want a change in their current employment or who need a new position due to a layoff that has left them out of work. It is our mission in this company to find a perfect match between candidate and client, a perfect match between skills possessed and experience needed, and a perfect match between an individual who wants to make a change and a company that seeks to find some change.

As recruiters we see people of all walks of life: new grads, CFOs, back-to-work moms, and even those who have not been on a job interview in 25 years. We meet with everyone before we ever send them out to a client just so that we have a good background knowledge of their work and who they are as a person. Thinking back to when I started with this company (a mere 8 months ago) one of the first things I was told was, “Get to know who you are interviewing, ask about their life, their kids, how they got to this point in their life.” This advice has been a constant reminder to me that we are here to help others make a needed change, therefore we as recruiters have to make a conscious effort to remember that change.

So to be called a “headhunter” sends chills even up my spine at times because we are so much more than that. Our mission here at Southwest Search is not about putting a warm body in a desk chair to crunch numbers all day, it’s about finding the right opportunity for all parties so that the end result is satisfaction.

Welcome to “Just Another Recruiting Blog”! I hope you will follow along as we discuss the job market, interview tips, do’s and don’ts of finding a new job, and how to be successful in a changing world. Find us on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn as we create a complete outreach initiative.
